David Babaii For WildAid Volcanic Ash Sculpting ClayHonestly, what more could you want from a hair product?? David Babaii, hairdresser to the stars, and Kate Hudson teamed up to create the PERFECT set of hair products and they did all the things I would have done if I started up my own line of beauty products. The products are made from exotic natural and renewable ingredients like Polyonesian White Ginger. They are definetly not tested on animals and free from nasty chemicals and sulfates. In fact, they are so passionate about animals that they donate 10% of all profits to WildAid, a global wildlife conservation organization. Oh, and did I mention the products work GREAT, smell amazing, and are sold at Target for a reasonable price. I mean honestly, does it get any better than this?

Part Two of the Problem Hair Series is all about flat, stick to the head, boring hair that needs a good dose of volume. In Part One, we covered frizzy, out of control hair, but now let’s go back to the experts for some great ideas on how to get your bounce back…

Bumble and Bumble Styling LotionStyling Product: Use a volume building spray before blow drying like Bumble and bumble Styling Lotion.

Use it to on wet hair and spread evenly by sections to get lightweight hold while building body and strengthening the hair shaft.

Marilyn Tuxedo Pro BrushBrush: Use a round brush like Marilyn Tuxedo Pro Brush, an award winner of Allure Magazine Best of Beauty.

A round brush will give great lift at the crown. Wrap a section around the barrel and pull your hair upward while blow drying to get excellent lift.

Hot Tools 1875 Watt Dryer ProfessionalStyling Tool: Use an non-ionic blow-dryer like the Hot Tools 1875 Watt Dryer Professional.

Blow drying with a non-ionic blow dryer will enlarge your hair follicle and add loads of volume rather than using an ionic blow dryer which helps seal the follicle to create smoother but often flat locks.

This is the first post in a series of solutions for common hair problems.

So you have impossibly thick or curly hair that is difficult to style and tends to frizz in humidity. Lets go to the experts for some agreed upon solutions:

Fekkai Anti-Frizz Silkening CreamStyling Product: Use an anti-frizz styling product like Fekkai Coiff Perfecteur Anti-Frizz Silkening Creme.

Use on clean damp hair to give your curls a light weight hold that will combat frizziness and keep your hair manageable.

You can find it on Sephora for $26.

GHD Air BrushBrush: Use a vent brush like the GHD Air Brush which is made specifically to vent heat through the brush into the hair follicle and control blow drying thicker hair.

Use it while you blow dry your hair to keep hair manageable and curls under control.

You can find it on Sephora for $26.

Tourmaline Ionic DiffuserStyling Tool: Use a diffuser like the T3 Tourmaline Ionic Diffuser which reduces heat damage and creates smoother locks. Adds softness and shine to your curls.

You can find it on Sephora for $30.

What do you do when you have five minutes to touch up your hair and makeup? What is worse then showing up to a last minute gathering with skin that is dull, lips that are pale and hair that is flat? How about dark circles under your eyes and smeared eyeliner? Yuck!

We have all been in this predicament. You’ve been working all day. You’re a total mess and at the last second something comes up. You’ve got about 5 minutes to touch up your makeup and hair without making it obvious.

Whether your boyfriend’s parents show up at your apartment without notice, or you decide to meet friends at the last minute after work, or a camera crew shows up on the scene…who knows!…here are some tips and makeup products that may help you to get gorgeous..or at least decent in a jam.

STEP ONE:

Bumble and Bumble Hair PowderLast minute Hair: puffy…oily…ragged…frizzy…flat…are these some of the words that come into mind when you’ve been working hard all day? My suggestion is to duplicate your favorite brush at home and bring one that stays in the car. This way you don’t have to drag around a bulky brush or use a cheap fold up one. Find a brush that works magic on your hair along with maybe a sample of your favorite hair product to keep in your purse. This way it will only take a few seconds to apply the products and comb through. It won’t be a miracle, but believe me it will help.

Product Recommendation: Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder, I can’t recommend this product enough!! It gives life to dull flat hair, helps soak up greasy strands, and even covers up roots.

STEP TWO:

Sephora Face 25 Makeup Remover WipesOld Eye Makeup: A long day of work can leave dark circles under the eyes and streaking eye makeup. A quick fix: Grab a makeup wipe to clean off old eye makeup, and then use a moisturizing concealer pen to brighten up around the eyes.Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen

Product Recommendation: Sephora FACE 25 Makeup Removing Wipes for use on eyes, lips, and face. A perfect quick fix that comes in a travel friendly pack. For a creamy concealer fix try Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen, a great little tool to slip into the purse. Or for a cheaper version, try the Sephora Light Touch Highlighter.

STEP THREE:

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face MistDull Skin: The perfect remedy for pale, dull skin is moisture, color and more color. Give yourself a spritz of moisture. Just a little mist, not so much that your old makeup drips! Then dab on a creamy blush and follow with a colorful lip gloss and you will be all set.

Product Recommendation: Try The Body Shop Vitamin E Face MistLorac Sheer Wash lightly scented with rosewater. Or stick with a popular mist, Evian- Mineral Water Spray, available in a convenient 1.7 oz travel size. Another easy solution, if your purse is small, is the Benefit Cosmetics Benetint Pocket Pal, which gives you a lip and cheek stain on one side and a clear lip gloss on the other. Or grab a roll on blush like Lorac Sheer Wash which also can be used as a lip and cheek stain.

I hope these three steps help streamline your quick fix!

PureOlogy HydrateCondition

November 28th, 2006

Pureology HydrateConditionThis conditioner brings brilliance to colored hair. It hydrates with ingredients such as Shea Butter, and protects your color with added sunscreens. I love it because it really makes my color shine and it softens tangled dry ends. I use a little less on the top of my head to prevent it from looking oily the day after I wash, as this super hydrator can be a little heavy. The added botanicals of Peppermint, Sage, and Rosemary refresh the scalp.
